The BMW iX3 is the first vehicle to be equipped with B-M-W's fifth-generation electric drive system (eDrive), a powertrain that integrates the electric motor, electronic control, transmission, and inverter into a single unit, increasing power density by as much as 30 percent compared to existing BMW pure-electric models. As for the electric motor, the car adopts an excitation synchronous motor for the first time, which does not use rare earth elements and reduces dependence on scarce resources.
